What is the difference between coaching and counseling?

Coaching

Coaching is primarily aimed at external challenges. It is about steps you would like to take in your professional life or how you show up in relationships with the people around you.

Coaching is more practical, solution-focused, and future-oriented.

It can help you:

  • respond differently in a challenging situation at work or in a relationship

  • improve your performance by developing specific skills

  • make decisions and take concrete steps towards your goals

Counseling

Sometimes you notice that you keep running into the same issues, or that coaching on its own does not bring lasting results. Old patterns, limiting beliefs, or unresolved emotions may be standing in your way. Counseling addresses this on a deeper layer.

Counseling is more reflective, insightful, and transformational.

It can help you:

  • break through persistent patterns

  • better understand and process difficult emotions

  • reconnect with what truly matters to you
